LI Qian was born in Jiangsu Province. She obtained her PhD in Linguistics from Leiden University (the Netherlands), specializing in Experimental Phonetics. Currently, she serves as an Associate Research Fellow at the Phonetics Laboratory of the Institute of Linguistics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, an Executive Research Fellow of the Innovation Program, and an editor of Journal of Chinese Phonetics. Her primary research focuses on tones and intonation in Chinese dialects, the production, perception, and cognitive processing of tones, as well as speech development across lifespan. She has published numerous papers in internationally renowned phonetics journals such as Journal of Phonetics and Journal of the International Phonetic Association, and authoritative domestic linguistics journals including Chinese Language and Contemporary Linguistics. Additionally, she has hosted and completed a Youth Project funded by the National Social Science Fund of China.
