WAN Quan

WAN Quan, male, was born in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. He is a researcher professor, a doctoral supervisor, and a post-doctoral tutor of Institute of Linguistics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences，and he is the director of the Department of Contemporary Linguistics, the editor in chief of Contemporary Linguistics, and the deputy director of the Corpus and Computational Linguistics Research Center, Institute of Linguistics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He is also the Secretary General of the Chinese Linguistics Society, and an expert obtaining the special government allowance of the State Council. He has published more than 50 papers in the journals such as Studies of the Chinese Language, Chinese Teaching in the World, Journal of foreign languages. He published three monographs, and one of them, The Properties and Functions of "De" won the second prize of the Lü Shuxiang Linguistics Award. His research focus on theoretical linguistics, syntax and semantics, and his research idea is based on the foundational beliefs of the cognitive-functional linguistics. His current research subjects mainly focus on the relationship between Chinese parts-of-speech inclusion patterns and Chinese sentence patterns, experimental linguistics, speech interaction, functional and cognitive research of pragmatics and rhetorics, contrastive research between English and Chinese, language ideology, etc.
